Elevate Climate at OPIS 2024

Tackling Market Risk and Regulatory Uncertainty in Carbon Markets

Join Elevate Climate’s executive team at OPIS 2024 as they share expert perspectives on the evolving dynamics of both voluntary and compliance carbon markets.

The State of the Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCM)
Clayton Munnings, CEO of Elevate Climate, joins Katie Sullivan of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) to unpack the risks, challenges, and ongoing credibility crisis facing voluntary carbon markets. The session will explore the regulatory and investor response to recent market turbulence and what’s needed to restore trust in the VCM.

California Cap-and-Trade: Market Outlook & Post-2030 Uncertainty
Alicia Robinson, COO of Elevate Climate, will speak alongside experts from EDF, cCarbon, and ClimeCo on the future of California’s Cap-and-Trade Program. With the 2030 horizon fast approaching, she will emphasize the critical importance of program extension for both market and emissions certainty. The panel will also address CCA supply/demand dynamics, pricing forecasts, and the role of the California Legislature in delivering legal clarity on the program’s long-term future.

This year, I shared the stage with long-time colleague Katie Sullivan to discuss challenges and opportunities facing the voluntary carbon market and preview upcoming research by the Carbon Quality Lab.
